Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk (or buttermilk for extra fluffiness)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the center, pour in the milk and vanilla extract, and stir gently until just combined — do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the blueberries. If using frozen, don’t thaw them.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick round.
- Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle tops with coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter, honey, or a drizzle of glaze if you like!
