Ingredients
- 2 large apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add oil and milk, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon (if using), and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the apple slices, reserving a few for the top of the cake.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and arrange the reserved apple slices decoratively on top.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
