Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

For the Marinara Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

For the Fettuccine:

  • 12 oz fettuccine pasta
  • Salt for pasta water
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs:
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the meatballs in batches and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, set them aside on a plate.
  3. Make the Marinara Sauce:
In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and garlic. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar (if using), salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes. Stir in fresh basil at the end.
  4. Cook the Fettuccine:
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. Combine and Serve:
Add the browned meatballs to the simmering marinara sauce and cook for another 5-7 minutes to let the flavors meld. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked fettuccine. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan and garnish with fresh parsley.

Enjoy this comforting and delicious Fettuccine and Meatballs!
