Ingredients
- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 1 can (330 ml) Coca-Cola (regular, not diet)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon oil (for searing)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Sesame seeds & chopped green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Season the chicken: Lightly season the drumsticks with salt and pepper.
- Sear: In a large skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Sear the drumsticks on all sides until lightly browned.
- Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix together the Coca-Cola, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.
- Simmer: Pour the sauce over the drumsticks. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 25–30 minutes, turning the drumsticks occasionally.
- Reduce the sauce: Remove the lid and increase the heat slightly. Let the sauce simmer uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens into a sticky glaze that coats the chicken.
- Serve: Transfer the drumsticks to a plate, spoon the sauce over, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
