Perfect for parties or as a tasty snack, they are easy to make at home and can be customized to suit your taste. Enjoy them with soy sauce or sweet and sour dipping sauce for an added burst of flavor!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground pork or chicken (or tofu for a vegetarian option)
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 package egg roll wrappers
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground meat (or tofu) and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the cabbage, carrots, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, with a corner pointing towards you.
- Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling near the corner. Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly, sealing the edges with a bit of water.
- Fry the Egg Rolls:
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the egg rolls, frying in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as soy sauce, sweet and sour sauce, or spicy mustard.
Enjoy your homemade egg rolls!
