Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- Water (enough to cover eggs)
- 1 tsp salt (optional)
- Ice (for ice bath)
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water.
- Add a pinch of salt if desired (helps prevent cracking and makes peeling easier).
- Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat slightly and cook for:
- 6–7 minutes for soft-boiled eggs
- 9–12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs
- Prepare a bowl with ice water.
- When the eggs are done, transfer them immediately to the ice bath to stop cooking.
- Let them sit in the ice bath for at least 5 minutes, then peel and enjoy!
