Eat Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey/pork)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage:
    • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and place the whole head in boiling water.
    • Simmer for about 5 minutes, then peel off the softened outer leaves. Repeat until you have about 10-12 leaves.
  2. Make the Filling:
    • In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Lay a cabbage leaf flat and place about 2 tbsp of filling in the center.
    • Fold the sides over the filling and roll up tightly. Repeat with remaining leaves.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:
    • Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté the garlic for 30 seconds.
    • Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Cook the Rolls:
    • Pour a layer of sauce into a baking dish. Arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls seam-side down.
    • Pour the remaining sauce over the rolls. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1.5 hours.
  6. Serve & Enjoy!
    • Let the rolls rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy with a side of mashed potatoes or crusty bread! 😋
