Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey/pork)
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and place the whole head in boiling water.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes, then peel off the softened outer leaves. Repeat until you have about 10-12 leaves.
- Make the Filling:
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Lay a cabbage leaf flat and place about 2 tbsp of filling in the center.
- Fold the sides over the filling and roll up tightly. Repeat with remaining leaves.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté the garlic for 30 seconds.
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Cook the Rolls:
- Pour a layer of sauce into a baking dish. Arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls seam-side down.
- Pour the remaining sauce over the rolls. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1.5 hours.
- Serve & Enjoy!
- Let the rolls rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy with a side of mashed potatoes or crusty bread! 😋
