INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup warm water
- ¼ cup plain yogurt (room temperature)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter
- Optional: Melted butter + minced garlic or chopped cilantro for brushing
INSTRUCTIONS
- Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm water, yogurt, and oil. Stir to form a soft dough. - Knead:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. - Let it Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. - Divide & Roll:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal balls. Roll each ball into an oval or circle about ¼ inch thick. - Cook the Naan:
Heat a cast-iron skillet or nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 1–2 minutes on one side until bubbles form, then flip and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes. You may press lightly with a spatula. - Optional Finishing Touch:
Brush hot naan with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic or cilantro if desired. - Serve Warm:
Best served warm with curries, soups, or as a wrap.
