Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup plain yogurt (room temperature)
- 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or olive oil)
- 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee (for brushing)
- Optional: minced garlic, chopped cilantro for topping
Instructions
- Make the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix in the yogurt and oil until a soft dough forms. - Knead:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour. - Rest:
Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. - Divide:
After resting, divide the dough into 6–8 equal balls. - Roll out:
Roll each ball into an oval or circle about 1/4-inch thick. - Cook:
Heat a skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 1–2 minutes per side until it puffs up and gets golden spots. - Brush and serve:
Brush hot naan with melted butter or ghee. Add optional garlic or herbs if desired. Serve warm.
