Ingredients
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 ½ cups shredded coconut (unsweetened or sweetened, based on preference)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional, for added crunch)
- 2 tbsp butter
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Once melted, add the sweetened condensed milk and stir gently.
- Gradually stir in the shredded coconut and a pinch of salt (if using).
- Continue to cook the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- Once thickened, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Optional: Fold in chopped nuts for added texture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased dish or mold and spread it out evenly.
- Let it cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, then refrigerate for another 10 minutes to set.
