- ½ teaspoon salt

- ⅓ cup vegetable oil

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch round or square baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the water, vegetable oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined and smooth—do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting or dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
