Don’t Throw Away Overripe Bananas! Make Natural Banana Candy! Only 4

Ingredients

  • 2 overripe bananas
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional – helps preserve color)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional – for added sweetness)
  • Cinnamon to taste (optional – for flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to the lowest temperature (around 140–170°F / 60–75°C) or use a dehydrator.
  2. Mash or Slice:
    • For chewy strips: Slice the bananas into thin, even slices or strips.
    • For fruit leather: Mash the bananas until smooth.
  3. Flavor (Optional): Mix in lemon juice, honey, or a dash of cinnamon if using.
  4. Spread:
    • For fruit leather: Spread the banana puree evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet (about 1/8-inch thick).
    • For slices: Lay them out in a single layer.
  5. Dry Out:
    • Place in the oven and let dry for 4–6 hours, flipping halfway through, until chewy and not sticky.
  6. Cool and Store: Let cool completely. Store in an airtight container at room temp or in the fridge for longer shelf life.
