Ingredients

  • Peels from 2 organic oranges (washed thoroughly)
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 5–6 whole cloves
  • 3–4 cups water
  • Optional: 1–2 teaspoons honey or lemon juice (for flavor)

Instructions

  1. Rinse orange peels well to remove any residual dirt or wax. If using non-organic oranges, soak peels in vinegar water for 10 minutes and rinse again.
  2. In a pot, bring the water to a boil.
  3. Add the sliced ginger, orange peels, and cloves to the boiling water.
  4. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15–20 minutes, covered.
  5. Remove from heat and let it steep for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Strain the mixture into a mug or jar.
  7. Add honey or lemon juice if desired. Enjoy warm or chilled!
