Delicious Turkish Bread recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: sesame seeds or nigella seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8–10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a baking stone or tray inside to heat.
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a flat oval or circle, about 1/2 inch thick.
  8. Place the shaped dough on parchment paper. Use your fingertips to dimple the surface gently.
  9. Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds if desired.
  10. Bake on the hot stone or tray for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
