Ingredients
- 1 lb beef liver, sliced
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup milk (for soaking)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ¼ tsp paprika (optional)
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Soak the Liver: Place the sliced beef liver in a bowl and cover it with milk. Let it soak for 30-60 minutes to reduce bitterness. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
- Prepare the Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil. Add sliced onions and cook until soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove onions and set aside.
- Coat the Liver: In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Dredge each liver slice in the seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
- Cook the Liver: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil. Fry the liver slices over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes per side, until browned but still tender inside. Avoid overcooking.
- Combine & Serve: Return the onions to the pan, stir gently, and cook for another minute. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
