Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (or béchamel sauce as a base)
  • 1 cup cooked meat, chicken, fish, or vegetables (finely chopped)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Prepare Filling
    • In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes (or béchamel sauce) with chopped meat/fish/vegetables.
    • Add onion, garlic, cheese, and seasonings. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape Croquettes
    • Take a small portion of the mixture and shape into small rolls, patties, or oval balls.
    • Place on a tray and chill in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Coat
    • Roll each croquette first in flour, then dip into beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
    • Make sure each piece is well coated for a crispy finish.
  4. Cook
    • Frying: Heat oil in a pan and fry croquettes until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes per side).
