Crockpot Bread Recipe

This simple and delicious crockpot bread recipe allows you to bake a soft, fluffy loaf without an oven. Perfect for beginners, it’s easy to prepare and requires minimal effort, resulting in a warm and comforting homemade bread.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional: herbs, garlic, or seeds for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Slowly pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil (or melted butter). Stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the Dough:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and form it into a round loaf. Place the loaf onto a piece of parchment paper that fits into your crockpot.
  6. Crockpot Setup:
Preheat the crockpot on the “High” setting for 10 minutes. Then, place the dough inside, still on the parchment paper.
  7. Bake in Crockpot:
Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook the bread on the “High” setting for about 2-2.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 190°F (88°C). The top of the bread may still be pale.
  8. Crisp the Crust (Optional):
If you prefer a crispy crust, transfer the loaf to an oven preheated to 400°F (200°C) and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Cool and Serve:
Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Enjoy your homemade crockpot bread with butter, jam, or your favorite spread!
