Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork (or chicken, shrimp, or beef)
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 package egg roll wrappers
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the ground pork (or your choice of meat) and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary. Add the garlic, ginger, and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. - Add the Vegetables:
Stir in the shredded cabbage, carrots, and green onions. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cabbage softens, and all vegetables are combined. - Season the Filling:
Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly. - Assemble the Egg Rolls:
Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you (like a diamond shape). Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the filling into the center. Fold up the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides. Brush the top corner with a bit of egg wash (beaten egg), and roll tightly to seal. - Fry the Egg Rolls:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the egg rolls into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. - Serve:
Serve your crispy egg rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce (like sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce) and enjoy!
