These homemade breadsticks are irresistibly crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and loaded with melted, gooey cheese. Perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or snack!

Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
    • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
    • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast  
    • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2.5 – 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the Topping:
    • 1/2 cup melted butter
    • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon dried basil
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar)
    • Optional: Parmesan cheese for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a large bowl, combine the warm water and sugar.
    • Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Make the Dough:
    • Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the salt to the foamy yeast mixture.
