  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In another large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. Gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined—don’t overmix!
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until the butter melts and the mixture is hot, but not boiling.
  6. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the batter while whisking constantly.
