Creamy lemon squares recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, powdered sugar, and softened butter until crumbly. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
  3. Bake the crust for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  4. While crust bakes, whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, flour, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.
  5. Pour the lemon mixture over the baked crust and return to oven. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  6. Allow bars to cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar.
  7. Cut into squares and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Would you like me to make this extra creamy and rich (like a cheesecake-style lemon square) or keep it light and tangy?
