  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Fresh berries or fruit slices
  • Melted chocolate or caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
    • Cut into squares or rectangles as desired.
    • Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Whisk the egg with water and brush lightly over the tops for a golden finish.

    • Let cool, then gently slice open for filling.
  2. Make the Custard:
    • In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks.
    • Gradually add milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 5–7 minutes).
    • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter until smooth.
    • Let cool slightly, then refrigerate for 30–60 minutes for a firmer texture.
  3. Assemble the Delight:
    • Spoon or pipe the chilled custard into the cooled puff pastry shells.
    • Dust with powdered sugar and top with fruit or drizzle as desired.
