Creamy Custard Dessert Recipe

This recipe yields a rich and creamy custard dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It’s easy to make and can be customized with various flavorings and toppings.

Ingredients:

  • For the Custard:
    • 4 large egg yolks
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Pinch of salt
  • For Serving:
    • Whipped cream (optional)
    • Fresh berries (optional)
    • Caramel sauce (optional)
    • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Custard:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and flour until smooth.
    • In a saucepan, combine the milk, cream, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until simmering.
    • Gradually whisk the hot milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent scrambling.
    • Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the custard thickens and coats the back of the spoon (about 5-7 minutes).  
    • Remove from heat and stir in the salt.
    • Strain the custard through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any lumps.
    • Let the custard cool slightly, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chilled.
  2. Serve:
    • Pour the chilled custard into individual serving dishes.
    • Top with whipped cream, fresh berries, caramel sauce, chocolate shavings, or any other desired toppings.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!
