Corn Bread Recipe

A classic and easy recipe for delicious homemade corn bread.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to your preference)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (or buttermilk for a richer flavor)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 8×8 inch baking pan or a cast iron skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg.  
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the corn bread cool in the pan for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
