Soft, airy, and melt-in-your-mouth vanilla donuts that feel like clouds with every bite. Perfect for breakfast, tea-time, or a sweet treat anytime.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Oil for frying (or use donut pan for baking)
- Optional: powdered sugar or glaze for topping
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine: Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep donuts fluffy.
- Shape Donuts: For fried donuts, scoop dough into a piping bag and pipe into hot oil (350°F / 175°C). Fry until golden brown on each side, about 1–2 minutes per side. For baked donuts, fill greased donut pans 3/4 full.
- Cool & Serve: Remove from oil or oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze if desired.
Tips
- Use room temperature eggs and milk for better batter consistency.
- Don’t overmix the dough—this keeps donuts light and airy.
- Maintain oil temperature while frying; too hot will brown the outside before the inside cooks.
- For extra cloud-like texture, sift the flour before mixing.
- Experiment with glazes or toppings like chocolate, cinnamon sugar, or sprinkles.
