CLASSIC TOMATO SANDWICH RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 1 large ripe tomato
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (or more to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)
  • A drizzle of olive oil (optional)

Instructions:

Start by toasting the bread slices to your desired level of crispness. While the bread is toasting, wash the tomato thoroughly and slice it into thick rounds, about 1/4 inch thick. Once the bread is ready, spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice.

Next, layer the tomato slices on one slice of bread, ensuring they cover the entire surface. Sprinkle the tomato with a pinch of salt and freshly cracked pepper to enhance the flavor. If you’re using fresh basil leaves, add them on top of the tomatoes for a burst of freshness.

Drizzle a little olive oil over the tomatoes if desired. Place the other slice of bread on top, mayo side down, to create the sandwich. Gently press down to secure the layers.
