Classic Ham & Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • Slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your choice)
  • Slices of ham (deli or cooked)
  • Slices of cheese (Cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite semi-hard cheese)
  • Optional: butter or mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface.
  2. If you like, spread a thin layer of butter or mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place a slice of cheese on one slice of bread.
  4. Top with slices of ham.
  5. Add another slice of cheese if you’d like it extra cheesy.
  6. Cover with the second slice of bread.
  7. For a cold sandwich, cut in half and serve as is.
  8. For a warm sandwich, grill it in a pan or sandwich press for 2–3 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
