Classic Cherry Delight

Cherry Delight is a vintage-style layered dessert made with a buttery graham cracker crust, sweet cream cheese filling, and tangy cherry pie topping. It’s cool, creamy, and incredibly easy to make!

🍒 Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 oz) tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

For the Topping:

  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs and sugar.
    • Add melted butter and stir until combined.
    • Press mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch pan (for thinner layers).
    • Chill in the fridge while you make the filling.
  2. Make the Creamy Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.
    • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until fully combined.
    • Gently fold in the whipped topping until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assemble the Dessert:
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
    • Carefully spoon the cherry pie filling over the top and spread gently.
  4. Chill:
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to set properly.
  5. Serve:
    • Cut into squares and serve chilled.

🍽️ Serving:

  • Yields about 9–12 servings.
  • Garnish with extra graham cracker crumbs, white chocolate curls, or almonds if desired.

📦 Storage:

  • Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Not recommended for freezing (the texture of the whipped topping changes).

🔄 Variations:

  • Swap cherry for blueberry, strawberry, or apple pie filling.
  • Add a layer of chocolate chips between the crust and filling for a twist.
  • Make in individual cups for party servings!
