Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture.
    • Knead for about 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
    • Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the Filling:
    • Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about ¼-inch thick).
    • Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
    • Roll it tightly from the long side, then cut into 12 even pieces.
  4. Second Rise:
    • Place rolls in a greased baking dish and cover. Let them rise for another 30–45 minutes.
  5. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Prepare the Glaze:
    • Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
    • Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
