Ingredients
For the Bread:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice, let sit 5 minutes)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla and buttermilk. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack.
- While the bread is still warm, brush the top with melted butter. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle generously over the top.
Optional: For extra flavor, roll the sides of the loaf in the cinnamon sugar mix after buttering.
Would you like a glaze option to drizzle on top too?
