Ingredients

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Incorporate wet and dry ingredients:
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
  5. Pour and bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Prepare the topping:
In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar for the topping.
  7. Cool and top:
Once baked, allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack. While still warm, sprinkle or dust the cinnamon sugar evenly over the top.
  8. Serve:
Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy this bread as is or with a smear of butter!
