A deliciously soft and sweet treat, these homemade cinnamon rolls are perfect for breakfast or dessert. With a fluffy dough, a rich cinnamon sugar filling, and a creamy glaze, these rolls will melt in your mouth!
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Add the melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix to combine. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size. - Make the Filling:
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until well combined. - Assemble the Rolls:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches).
Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Starting from the long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log.
Slice the log into 12 rolls using a serrated knife or dental floss. - Bake the Rolls:
Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each one. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. - Make the Glaze:
While the rolls bake, combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Whisk until smooth. - Finish the Rolls:
Once the rolls are baked, let them cool for 5 minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!
