Christmas Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup red and green M&M’s (holiday variety)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Holiday sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the M&M’s, white chocolate chips, and nuts if using.
  7. Spread batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Top with extra M&M’s and festive sprinkles for a holiday touch.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.
  10. Serve and enjoy with a cup of cocoa or give them as holiday gifts!
