Ingredients
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake Base:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Stir until fully combined.
- Pour the cake mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
- Make the Ooey Gooey Topping:
- In another mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar, 2 eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter in the baking dish. Do not mix, just spread it evenly.
- Add Chocolate Chips:
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Bake the Cake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with some moist crumbs (not fully clean). The cake should be slightly “gooey” in the middle.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the cake to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. It’s even better after being refrigerated for a few hours.
- Serve it warm or cold, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top if desired!
Enjoy your rich, ooey gooey chocolate cake!
