Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add wet ingredients: Stir in milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Incorporate boiling water: Gradually add boiling water while mixing. The batter will be thin.
- Bake: Pour batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool: Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
