Chocolate Butterfinger Balls Recipe

These irresistible treats combine the crunchy, peanut-buttery goodness of Butterfingers with smooth, rich chocolate. Perfect for parties, gifts, or a sweet snack!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16-ounce) package Butterfinger candy bars (about 10 fun-size bars), finely crushed
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 (12-ounce) package chocolate chips (milk chocolate, semi-sweet, or dark, your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother dipping chocolate)
  • Optional toppings: Sprinkles, crushed Butterfinger pieces, sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Crush the Butterfingers: Unwrap the Butterfinger candy bars and place them in a resealable plastic bag. Use a rolling pin or mallet to crush them into fine pieces. You can also use a food processor for this step.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Butterfinger candy bars, softened cream cheese, and vanilla extract (if using). Mix well until thoroughly combined and a dough-like consistency is achieved.
  3. Form the Balls: Using a small cookie scoop or your hands, form the mixture into small, bite-sized balls (about 1-inch in diameter). Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Chill the Balls: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator or freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm up the balls. This will make them easier to dip in chocolate.
  5. Melt the Chocolate: In a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening (if using) over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, to prevent burning.
  6. Dip the Balls: Remove the chilled Butterfinger balls from the refrigerator or freezer. Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s completely coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  7. Add Toppings (Optional): Immediately sprinkle the chocolate-covered balls with your desired toppings, such as sprinkles, crushed Butterfinger pieces, or a sprinkle of sea salt.
  8. Set the Chocolate: Place the dipped balls back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow them to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate has set, serve the Chocolate Butterfinger Balls and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
