- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- ¼ tsp salt
- 3 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
- Slowly add milk and heavy cream, whisking constantly until smooth.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the pudding into serving dishes and let cool at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Cover with plastic wrap (pressing it directly onto the pudding surface to prevent a skin from forming) and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Serve chilled with whipped cream, if desired.
