Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- ¼ cup beef broth or water
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds & sliced green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Marinate beef: In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for 15–20 minutes.
- Prepare vegetables: Slice onion and peppers into thin strips. Mince garlic and ginger.
- Cook beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Cook veggies: Add remaining oil to the pan. Stir-fry onions, peppers, garlic, and ginger for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Combine & sauce: Return beef to the pan. Add beef broth (and rice vinegar if using). Stir-fry everything together for 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens and beef is cooked through.
- Season: Taste and adjust with salt, pepper, or extra soy sauce.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
Would you like me to make it extra saucy (like a takeout-style pepper steak) or keep it light and dry (more like a stir-fry)?
