Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (Italian, sourdough, or your favorite)
- 1 cooked breaded chicken breast (cutlet)
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the bread – Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Assemble – On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer:
- A spoonful of marinara sauce
- The breaded chicken breast
- More marinara sauce on top of the chicken
- Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil if desired
- Top and grill – Place the second bread slice on top, buttered side facing out.
- Cook – Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until golden brown on one side (about 3–4 minutes). Flip carefully and cook until the other side is golden and cheese is melted.
- Serve – Slice in half and serve hot with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
If you want, I can also give you a crispy, extra-cheesy variation that makes it taste like a real restaurant sandwich. Would you like me to include that?
