Ingredients
- 2 slices of thick bread (like sourdough or Italian)
- 1 cooked breaded chicken cutlet (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Assemble the sandwich:
- Place one slice of bread butter-side down in the skillet.
- Layer with half the mozzarella, the chicken cutlet, marinara sauce, the rest of the mozzarella, and sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Grill the sandwich:
- Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press lightly with a spatula for an even crust.
- Serve hot with extra warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
- Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
