Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of thick bread (like sourdough or Italian)
  • 1 cooked breaded chicken cutlet (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Assemble the sandwich:
    • Place one slice of bread butter-side down in the skillet.
    • Layer with half the mozzarella, the chicken cutlet, marinara sauce, the rest of the mozzarella, and sprinkle with Parmesan.
    • Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  4. Grill the sandwich:
    • Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press lightly with a spatula for an even crust.
  5. Serve hot with extra warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
  6. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
