Ingredients
- 2 slices of sourdough or Italian bread
- 1 cooked breaded chicken cutlet (or chicken tenders)
- 2 tablespoons marinara sauce
- 2–3 slices mozzarella cheese
- 1–2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened (for spreading on bread)
- Optional: fresh basil or Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread:
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. These will be the outer sides of the sandwich. - Assemble the Sandwich:
On the unbuttered side of one bread slice, layer mozzarella cheese, the chicken cutlet, marinara sauce, Parmesan cheese, and optional fresh basil or Italian seasoning. Top with another slice of mozzarella, then place the second bread slice on top, buttered side facing out. - Grill the Sandwich:
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. - Serve:
Slice in half and serve hot with extra marinara on the side for dipping if desired.
