INGREDIENTS
- 2 slices of thick bread (sourdough or Italian work well)
- 1 cooked breaded chicken breast (store-bought or homemade), sliced
- ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the Bread:
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle a little Italian seasoning on the buttered side if desired. - Assemble the Sandwich:
Place one slice of bread, butter side down, on a skillet or pan. Layer with half the mozzarella, the sliced breaded chicken, marinara sauce, Parmesan, and the remaining mozzarella. Top with the second slice of bread, butter side up. - Grill:
Heat the skillet over medium heat. Cook the sandwich for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted. - Serve:
Slice in half, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
