Ingredients
- 2 slices of thick-cut bread (sourdough, Italian, or your choice)
- 1 cooked breaded chicken cutlet (or use chicken tenders)
- ¼ cup marinara or pasta sauce (warmed)
- 2 slices mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter (softened)
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread:
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Sprinkle a little Italian seasoning on the buttered sides, if using.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
- Layer with 1 slice of mozzarella, the breaded chicken cutlet, spoonfuls of marinara sauce, Parmesan cheese, and the second slice of mozzarella.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Grill It:
- Cook for 3–5 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
- Remove from pan, let rest 1 minute, then slice in half.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired. Serve with extra marinara for dipping.
