  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Spread two-thirds of the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Spoon cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
  7. Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the cherry filling.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  9. Cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

If you’d like, I can also give you a quick glaze drizzle recipe to make these bars look bakery-style. Would you like me to add that?
