Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional, but amazing)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- Spread about 2/3 of the batter evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon cherry pie filling evenly over the batter layer.
- Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the cherry layer — it won’t cover it completely, and that’s okay!
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely in the pan. Dust with powdered sugar before cutting into bars.
