A quick and easy way to make delicious, cheesy, garlic-infused Texas Toast at home. Perfect as a side dish or snack.
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf Texas Toast (frozen or fresh, thick-sliced)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2-4 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or a blend of cheeses like cheddar, Monterey Jack, etc.)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley (or Italian seasoning)
- Pinch of salt and black pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Garlic Butter:
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic (or garlic powder), parsley (or Italian seasoning), salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
- Prepare the Bread:
- If using frozen Texas Toast, you can follow the package instructions for pre-heating. If using fresh thick sliced bread, Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- If using fresh bread, lay the slices on a baking sheet.
- Spread the Garlic Butter:
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice of Texas Toast.
- Add the Cheese:
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese (and Parmesan, if using) generously over the buttered slices.
- Bake:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
- If using frozen Texas toast follow the package directions.
- Serve:
- Remove the Texas Toast from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Cut into desired shapes and enjoy immediately.
Optional Additions:
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter.
- Add finely chopped onions or green onions to the butter mixture.
- add a light sprinkle of paprika on top of the cheese before baking.
- For extra garlic flavor, after removing from the oven, lightly brush the crust with garlic infused olive oil.
