Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 250 g (about 9 oz) sausage meat or sausages (casings removed)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix sausage meat with seasoning and shredded cheese until well combined.
- Assemble the rolls: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into long rectangles. Place the sausage mixture in a log shape along one side of each rectangle, then roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges.
- Finish & bake: Brush the tops with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds, and cut into smaller bite-sized rolls (or keep them large). Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 18–22 minutes, until golden and puffed. Serve warm.
