Cheesy Potato Balls – A Popular Snack or Appetizer

INGREDENT

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or cubes for center filling)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, green onions (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Take a small portion of the mixture, flatten it in your palm, and place a bit of cheese in the center. Roll it into a ball to enclose the cheese.
  3. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  4. Roll each ball in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the balls in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve hot with ketchup, chili sauce, or your favorite dip.
