Cheesy Homemade Hamburger Helper

INGREDENT

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, if beef is very lean)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste (or ketchup as a substitute)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (and olive oil if needed) until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add Onion & Garlic
Add diced onion and minced garlic to the beef and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Mix in Spices & Liquids
Stir in the paprika, chili powder, salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Then pour in the beef broth and milk. Mix well.
  4. Add Pasta
Stir in the uncooked macaroni. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Make it Cheesy
Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Serve Hot
Spoon into bowls and enjoy your warm, cheesy homemade hamburger helper!
