Ingredients
- 1 loaf of French bread (or Italian bread)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: red pepper flakes for a spicy kick
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
- Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place both halves cut side up on the baking sheet.
- Mix the topping: In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the bread halves.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over both halves, then top with grated Parmesan. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
- Bake for about 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For extra golden cheese, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end—just watch it closely!
- Cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm as a side dish, appetizer, or snack.
