Ingredients
- 1 loaf of French bread (or Italian bread)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Prepare bread: Slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
- Make garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic (if using) and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Spread: Spread the garlic butter evenly over both bread halves.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the buttered bread.
- Bake: Place the bread halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Broil (optional): For a golden top, switch to broil for the last 1–2 minutes — watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Garnish & serve: Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired, slice, and serve warm!
